One aspect that keeps me coming back to the tag-sale trail each weekend is the unending supply of mysteries. Sure, you could look through your own garage or basement for something to do, but it's much more fun to play detective with someone else's past.
I am not encouraging anyone to pry into individuals' private lives, more into society's past, or the manufacturing past. So many inventions have come and gone due to either obsolescence, or technological breakthrough, however, there is sometimes no one around to explain what some of these gadgets were.
Case in point - the image above - when I came across it at an estate sale it looked like something that had been run over. Well, what should you do in that case, leave it unanswered or buy it? I bought it for 5 dollars.
