Ryan - I'm am on the Board of Finance not the Board of Education
Paul, I have spent almost 40 years…Read More in the private sector and have never worked (paid position) in the public sector. I understand your comments about the difference between the public and private sectors but what you do not understand is that much of the required funding is as a result of one state statute or another and negotiated contracts. Local towns BOF do not have 'total' control over the finances and there is not one person in town that has total control. The school handles there own union negotiations with the staff they employ. On the town side, the First Selectman handles the unions that they employ. The Board of Finance does their best to determine what they think we can afford based on the requirements from the contracts and needs of the town. You vote for the people in these positions and I believe only 1 of those people work in the public sector. There are a lot of differences between the public and private sectors. Please contact me directly if you need more details. My e-mail address is on the town web site.
tell me mr friedrichs do you work or did you retire from the public sector? if so that explains…Read More all your jibber jabber on why we need to raise taxes= in the private sector people are lucky to keep there jobs let alone a 5% raise. You are out of touch- you cant keep going to the well= that is why this nations in deep trouble we have become a nation of people for the government instead of government for the people-RUN GOVERNMENT LIKE A BUSSINESS
You're kidding me, right? Is this some sort of a spoof article above? Please tell me that this is…Read More not the "defense" of the education budget by the current Chairman of the Board of Education??? Please tell me it is not.... This is it? This is the capacity and strength and reasoning of a Board of Ed chairman on a budget. Oh my Lord....
The short answer is because they want to. If you spent twice at much they still would. Education…Read More personnel need to be monitored on social media like Patch.
I will lend a hand by voting yes for the school budget this Tuesday, May 21st. Teachers should not…Read More have to pay out of pocket for school supplies.
