Join us and take the No Child Left Inside® pledge!

The Garden Club of Brookfield invites you to join us for the film presentation of No Child Left Inside and take the No Child Left Inside® pledge!

This initiative and program was introduced by Governor Rell in 2006 and coordinated by the Department Of Energy and Environmental Protection. The program is designed to reconnect families with the outdoors and showcase Connecticut’s beautiful parks and forest. No Child Left Inside provides the incentive for children to turn off their computers and television sets and get outside.

The Program will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at 10:00 AM, at the Newbury Congregational Church 126 Tower Road, Brookfield, CT.

If you have any questions, please call Diane at 203-546-8142

In keeping with this program our club sponsors a Junior Gardener program at Huckleberry Hill Elementary School. One of the many projects the Junior Gardeners work on is caring for Huck’s Paw Patch the organic garden at the school. During summer recess families, scout troops and other organizations work in the garden. All food goes to the Brookfield Food Pantry. The garden was started with a grant from the Brookfield Education Foundation. If you are interested in learning more about this program or would like to participate contact the HHES garden committee at  huckspawpatch@gmail.com

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.
