Lady Bobcats Tied by Bethel in Final Seconds

Late foul steals win away from BHS girls soccer.

The Brookfield High School girls soccer team was literally seconds away from recording their sixth win and sixth shutout of the season Monday at Bethel when a late foul lead to a direct kick that the Wildcats were able to rebound home for the equalizer.

Lady Bobcat goalkeeper Steph Hunt's seventh save stopped Bethel's first try but the second curved inches past Hunt's diving effort just before the referee blew his whistle to end the match.

Until then it had appeared that senior striker Julia DePoi's first half goal would prove to be the margin of victory for Brookfield, whose record stood at 5-2-3 heading into Thursday night's clash at Newtown.
