Lifeguard Training Course

The Regional YMCA, Greenknoll Branch, is offering American Red Cross programs designed to prepare individuals to become certified lifeguards in the pool and waterfront aquatics environments.

This program consists of the following courses: Lifeguard Training and First Aid, CPR/AED for Lifeguards and Waterfront Lifeguard Module.

Class days and times:  August 27th-31st, Monday & Tuesday, 10a-4pm, Wednesday-Friday, 10a-2pm.

Fees:  $400.00

Prerequisites:  15 years of age prior to the last scheduled day of class.  Swim 550 yards (approx. 500 meters) continuously. Swim 20 yards using freestyle or breaststroke, surface dive 10-12 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to surface and swim it back on your back and exit the water within 1 minute and 40 seconds.  Swim 5 yards, submerged and retrieve three diving rings placed 5 yards apart in 4-7 feet of water, resurface and swim 5 yards to the side of the pool. Tread water without the use of your arms and hands continuously for 2 minutes.

Successful completion of the course requires students to pass a written test, a water test and mandatory attendance.
