The team begins play in the Federal Hockey League at home on October 29 against the New York Aviators.

For those Brookfielders who miss the Hartford Whalers, another whale is starting up its season in October.

The Danbury Whalers, who begin play this fall in the inaugural six-team Federal Hockey League, released their official schedule recently. (See the full list of home and away games here.)

The Federal League, whose franchises are located in Connecticut, New York and Ontario, Canada, will play a 60-game schedule contested over a 20-week period from late October to early March.

The Whalers drop the puck on October 29, when they host the New York Aviators at 7:05 p.m. at the Danbury Arena. This will mark the first time since April 13, 1997, that a professional team named the Whalers will skate on Connecticut ice.

The following night, the Whalers will entertain the Aviators at 7:05 p.m. in the second game of the opening weekend series.
