BBD Icecats Drop 2 in Rome

Bethel-Brookfield-Danbury hockey falls to 3-2 on the season after Holiday Tournament.

The Bethel-Brookfield-Danbury (BBD) Icecats traveled to Rome, NY for the annual Holiday Tournament at the JFK Ice Arena this past week. Unfortunately it wasn't a holiday on the ice as BBD came up a little short, losing 2-1 to the Mamaroneck Tigers Friday and again 2-1 to the Syracuse Cougars on Saturday.

Against the sharp passing Tigers, the Icecats fell behind 2-0 but the goal tending of Luiz Dibble kept them in the game despite being outshot by a considerable margin. Matt Hallock's late third period goal cut the deficit but BBD's rally fell just short.

Against Syracuse, Joey Britton's third period goal assisted by Mark Vetter and Steve Almeida briefly tied the score at 1-1 but the Cougars found the net and then held off the Icecats as they again tried to rally late. Goalie Chris Walker made 21 saves including a couple of beauties for BBD, who returned from their trip with a record of 3-2.

The team has two more road games this week — Staples-Weston-Shelton at Milford on Thursday and at Horace Greeley in Westchester Friday.

The short answer is because they want to. If you spent twice at much they still would. EducationRead More personnel need to be monitored on social media like Patch.

I will lend a hand by voting yes for the school budget this Tuesday, May 21st. Teachers should notRead More have to pay out of pocket for school supplies.

You certainly have a way with words. Why does it "suck"?
