St. Joseph School Graduate Class Donates ‘Peter Pan’ Proceeds to Danbury Hospital Pediatrics

The following press release was issued by the Western Connecticut Health Network.

The 2011 eighth grade graduating class of St. Joseph School in Brookfield became the newest members of the Danbury Hospital Kids Care Club by donating $200 to support the hospital’s Pediatric Department.

Ten graduates visited Danbury Hospital to present the check to Dr. Raul Arguello, Chairman of Pediatrics at Danbury Hospital and hospital staff.  During their visit, the children asked to see the “secret” closet — a place where all the toys donated to Danbury Hospital’s Department of Pediatrics are stored. The students were excited to be allowed a special sneak peek and to imagine how their donation would be put to good use.

Georgina Luongo, a longtime member of the Club, helped her fellow classmates choose Danbury Hospital as their charity of choice for donation of the profits raised through their end of school year production of Peter Pan.

Danbury Hospital’s Kids Care Club encourages children up to age 18 to make a donation in support of the Department of Pediatrics.  Children make donations in many ways:

  • ask friends and family for donations;
  • organize penny drives, lemonade stands or other events;
  • raise funds in lieu of gifts at birthday party; or
  • donate a portion of allowance.

Donations help purchase toys, videos/movies, video games and systems and more to make a child’s hospital stay more comfortable.  For more information on the Kids Care Club, please call the Danbury Hospital Development Fund at (203) 739-7227, or visit their website.
