Flips, Kicks And Magic At HHES Variety Show

Huckleberry Hill Elementary Students Show Off Their Talent At Annual Show

Nearly 50 performers graced the stage at Huckleberry Hill Elementary School's 12th Annual Spring Variety Show, held on Friday night at Whisconier Middle School. The show ran just under two hours and featured a wide array of acts from dancers, musicians and vocalists, to magicians, gymnasts and poets.

The show opened with the Star Spangled Banner, performed by third grader Lauren McCarthy. She was followed by an energetic taekwando demonstration, complete with board breaking, featuring Jacob Mamundi and Julian Checco.

The musicians were a highlight of the show this year, with more soloists performing than in recent years. Fourth grader Dylan Hathaway quickly captivated the audience with his drum solo, which drew major crowd applause. More musicians of note were violinist Alexandra Fitzgerald, Jared Goldstein on the electric guitar and pianists Jordan Hattar, Alexander Rugger and Emily Lauri.

Fourth grade students Erik Henke and Varisht Nellicherry served as emcees for the evening and put great effort into keeping the audience giggling in between each of the 32 acts. They also took a moment at the close of the show to thank all the parents who worked so hard to make the show possible, including the stage crew Tony Frias and Tom Hathaway, who managed to keep the show moving seamlessly.

The Variety Show was free and sponsored by the HHES PTO. Parent volunteers organized the show, led by coordinators Cari Frias and Cynthia Hathaway. PTO members also held a bake sale before the show and during the intermission. All proceeds from the bake sale will go to the PTO Activity Fund for next year's show.
