Downed Wire Cuts Power to BHS Monday

Classes continued with school powered by generator.

There was an issue Monday morning with an electrical transformer on Hillandale Road that resulted in a down live wire, causing problems with morning bus routes and severing power to Brookfield High School (BHS) and homes in the neighborhood.

According to BHS principal Joseph Palumbo, a school bus was on Hillandale Road at the time of the incident and steps were taken by All Star Transportation to maintain the safety of all students. Other buses that traveled on Hillandale Road were rerouted.

The high school lost power for a few hours, however the majority of the building was powered by a generator during that time and students remained working in their classrooms.
