Two Charged with DUI After Single-Car Accident

Police charged a 19- and 21-year-old with driving under the influence after one was involved in an accident.

Two Brookfield men were charged with driving under the influence after one crashed on Whippoorwill Lane and the other stopped to help his friend.

According to police, Austin Jordano, 19, of Woodcreek Road, was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Whippoorwill Lane around 3:20 a.m. on Dec. 22 when he struck the guy-wire of a utility pole.

While officers were investigating, they suspected that Jordano was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Jordano was taken into custody after taking field sobriety tests. He was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane and operating under the influence and released on $500 bond.

He pled ‘not guilty’ in Danbury Superior Court on Jan. 3 and is set to appear in court again on Jan. 10.

At 3:46 a.m., Nicholas Giardini, 20, of Candlewood Lake Road, stopped at the scene of the accident to check on his friend.

Officers reported that Giardini appeared to be intoxicated while speaking with them and he failed subsequent field sobriety tests. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and released on $500 bond.

Giardini pled ‘not guilty’ on Jan. 3 and is scheduled to appear in court again on Jan. 7.
