Police Blotter: Brandishing a Baton; Shoplifters

Friday, April 20
At 5 p.m., police were dispatched to for a shoplifter in custody. Lee Sypek, 47, of Pleasant Street, Danbury, was charged with larceny in the sixth degree and released at the scene on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on May 1.

According to Brookfield police, Clark Smith, 28, of West Street, New Milford, broke into a Brookfield apartment against the occupant’s wishes to get a television he had leant them. In the process, Smith allegedly brandished a collapsible baton in a threatening manner.
Smith was arrested and charged with criminal trespass in the first degree, criminal mischief in the third degree and the carrying and sale of dangerous weapons. He was released on $100 bond pending a court date on April 27.

Friday, April 13
Jacqueline Rochester, 49, of Merrimac Street, Danbury, was observed by Kohl’s Loss Prevention allegedly shoplifting items. She was stopped by Loss Prevention while Brookfield police were called to the scene.
Rochester was charged with larceny in the sixth degree and later released on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on April 27.
