New Milford Woman Killed in Four-Car Accident Monday

Consecutive accidents closed Whisconier Road and resulted in the death of Erin Morrarty

A 31-year-old New Milford woman was killed Monday in a four-car accident on Whisconier Road, just north of Farview Road.

The incident began around 8 a.m. Monday when a van stopped for a school bus was rear-ended by a Toyota Corolla, causing moderate damage but no injuries.

The two vehicles pulled to the side of the road when a Honda Fit reportedly sideswiped the Corolla, according to police. The driver of the Fit, New Milford resident Erin Morrarty, pulled over as well to exchange insurance information.

While Morrarty was standing behind the Corolla, a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 24-year-old Brookfield man crashed into the car, pinning Morrarty and causing fatal injuries.

She was transported to Danbury Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

The investigation is ongoing, however police said early investigations indicate “that glare from the early-morning sun could have affected visibility for southbound drivers on Whisconier Road.”
