Brookfield Police Captain Graduates From FBI National Academy

John Puglisi joins an elite group of law enforcement professionals.

Brookfield Police Capt. John Puglisi has become a member of an elite group in the law enforcement profession.

Puglisi, a 25-year veteran of the Brookfield Police Department, was one of 216 law enforcement officers who graduated June 14 from the FBI National Academy at Quantico, Va. 

Puglisi has served as a Captain for the last four years. The 45-year-old lives in New Milford with his wife, Suzanne, and their four children.

He joins a handful of law enforcement leaders from the Danbury area who have graduated from the National Academy, including Brookfield Maj. Jay Purcell, a 2006 graduate.

The 253rd session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 48 states, including members of law enforcement agencies from the District of Columbia, 24 international countries, three military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program, held at the FBI Academy, offers 10 weeks of advanced investigative, management, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies, according to a press release. 

On average, the release states, these officers have 19 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

A total of 46,826 graduates now represent the FBI National Academy since it began in July 1935. Of this number, approximately 29,313 are still active in law enforcement work.
