Brookfield Man Gets Additional Firearm, Protective Order Charge

Police arrested a local man on two additional charges stemming from July arrests.

James Kelly, Jr., 28, of Alexander Drive, Brookfield, turned himself in to Brookfield police at 7:48 p.m. Sunday after learning that an arrest warrant had been issued in his name on charges of criminal possession of a firearm in violation of a protective order and criminal violation of a protective order: threatening or trespassing.

According to police, the charges were a result of an investigation that occurred in July subsequent to an arrest.

Kelly was arrested twice in July, once on the 11th for assault in the third degree and disorderly conduct and again on the 24th for a litany of charges that included doctor shopping and possession with intent to sell, as well as criminal possession of a firearm and felony and criminal violation of a protective order.

Kelly was released Sunday after posting $100,000 court set bond and arraigned on Monday in Danbury Superior Court.
