Mary C. Balash died after a short illness on Monday, May 13 at her home in Brookfield at the age of 94. She was born in Danbury on January 31, 1919, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pasquale Cappellano.
Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas Balash Sr. and 11 brothers and sisters. Mary attended St. Peter's School in Danbury and worked at the Frank H. Lee Hat Factory and later at Davis and Geck for 20 years. She loved all of her brothers and sisters and her many nieces and nephews.
Mary's hobbies were cooking, playing cards and knitting. She also enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, such as Rachel Ray, The Price is Right and General Hospital.
Mary is survived by her son Thomas Balash Jr.; two grandsons Anthony Balash and Daniel Balash and his wife Colleen (Sullivan); and 2 great granddaughters, Mariah Gagnon and Kaley Balash.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 16 at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends between the hour of 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
