Army Vet, Lifelong CT Resident Vito Miglinas, 81

Vito Miglinas, 81, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2013 after his second battle with cancer. He was born in Enfield on July 18, 1932, son of the late John and Josephine (Klimonis) Miglinas. He was the devoted husband of Jane (Kopec) of 59 years.

A devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, Vito gained much strength from his faith.

Vito was a graduate of Holy Cross College in 1953 with a BA in Accounting. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly serving in the 7th Armor Hells on Wheels in Germany.

Vito worked as a postal clerk at the Danbury Post Office, retiring in 2004. Prior to that he managed several Friendly's Restaurants including the Danbury and Bethel locations.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was active with the Boy Scouts in his younger years.

Vito enjoyed the outdoors, camping and hiking, and passed that love on to his children. He had an adventurous side, enjoyed cliff diving and swimming.

He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Kurt Miglinas and his wife Joan of Cambridge, VT, and Guy Miglinas and his fiancé Tracey Rullo of New Fairfield; his daughter, Lynn Lehouiller and her husband Alan; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy), Kara (Jesse), Kristen (Elliot), Mikal-Lyn (Rob), Krista (Luke), Paige, Alexis, Cole, Remi and Banks; six great grandchildren; his sister Margaret Bermani; and niece Shelly.

He was predeceased by son Eric P. Miglinas.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield, on Monday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery, following the service.

The family received friends on Sunday afternoon.
