Active Brookfield Resident Mary Liscio, 95

Mary M. Liscio passed away on Aug. 30, 2013, at the age of 95 at Glen Hill Nursing Home, Danbury, CT.

Mrs. Liscio was the wife of the late Elio Liscio, former Dean of Fordham University College of Pharmacy, and former Councilman for the City of Mount Vernon, NY. She was a permanent resident of Brookfield for over 20 years, where she and her husband had maintained a summer home for more than 40 years.


Born on Sept. 11, 1917 in The Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Marietta Grieco Pittaro. She was a graduate of Morris High School in the Bronx and received a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Columbia University.

Mrs. Liscio worked as a registered pharmacist at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan, at Pelham Bay General Hospital in The Bronx, and occasionally at Liscio Pharmacy in The Bronx. She retired in 1980.

A resident of Mount Vernon, NY for over 40 years, Mrs. Liscio was active in the PTA, and was a participant in many Mount Vernon High School Scholarship Shows. She also worked in community organizations such as the Heart Fund, and United Way.

As a resident of Brookfield, Mrs. Liscio served on the Council on Aging and was a Justice of the Peace. She was an active member of the Women’s Republican Club and was involved in Parish activities at St. Marguerite’s Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of several committees, and helped create the St. Marguerite Tapestry. She participated in activities at the Brookfield Senior Center.

Mrs. Liscio is survived by her children, Dr. Robert Liscio (Lorraine) of Hollis, NH, Veronica O’Connor (Michael) of Port Chester, NY, Rita (Paul, Deceased 2000) DeVito of Rock Tavern, NY, Laura (Paula) Liscio of Arlington, MA; one sister; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Marguerite’s Church, Brookfield, CT on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury, CT.
