Troop 5 Christmas Tree Recycle

Boy Scout Christmas Tree Recycle Days-1/4 & 1/11 2014

Once again Brookfield Boy Scouts will be collecting and recycling Christmas trees.  Troop 5’s Christmas Tree recycling program is a convenient way to
help the environment while supporting your local Boy Scout Troop. One of
the reasons that Christmas trees are increasingly recycled is because
They have “all natural ingredients.” They are biodegradable, and that
property makes them particularly useful in a number of applications. One
of the most common uses is for mulch. The tree is simply ground into
mulch and then used to protect other growing plants. The mulch slowly
decomposes, which provides further nutrients to the plants. If interested if having your tree picked up and converted into mulch, please send an email with your name, phone number, address and preferred pick up date (Jan. 4 or 11, 2014) at tree@brookfieldtroop5.org and they will confirm your pickup date. Although there is a suggested donation of $10, any amount, if you are able to, is appreciated. No donation is required.

Please be sure to remove all decorations from the tree, including ornaments, garland, tinsel and water stand. Troop 5 continues with the mulch theme in the early spring, when they will be selling and distributing landscape-grade bags of natural and colored mulch. If interested in the spring mulch program, send us anemail now and we will contact you in the spring with details.
