Tis the Season for Fun and Football

Fill your days with holiday fun as the Christmas season gets underway.

Are you ready for a weekend stuffed with holiday cheer? Attend the Tree Lighting at the Municipal Center, , join a holiday Sing-A-Long and shop, eat and be merry at the St Joseph's School Christmas Festival. 

But first, plan on heading over to  Sports Complex on Tuesday night to cheer on the BHS Varsity Football team in their first round of the state championships against Lyman Hall.  Kick-off is at 6:30.

Friday evening is opening night for 'Tis The Season, a variety holiday show featuring singers and dancers from and Newtown's Dance Etc.  Catch the show on Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. or Sunday at 2 p.m. at New Milford High School.

Join your friends and neighbors for the Town of Brookfield's Annual Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 4, beginning at 5 p.m. Hosted by the Brookfield Girl Scouts, there will be a performance by the BHS Chorus, a visit from Santa, and homemade cookies and treats baked by the local Girl Scout troops.  Dress warm for the event, held at the .

Enjoy the annual Holiday Celebration of Song with the church choirs of Brookfield, including the Bell Choir from the Congregational Church. The Choir Concert and Sing-a-Long begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph's Church.

Sample the goodies from St. Nick's Bakery, shop over 35 vendors and visit Mrs. Claus' Cottage at the St. Joseph's School Christmas Festival on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • On Wednesday evening, girls in grades five through eight are invited to a self esteem improvement workshop at the  from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Participants will learn about enhancing self esteem through games, videos and discussion. Snacks will be served. Call (203) 775-4444 ext. 103 for additional information.
  • Brookfield Library Teen Movie night will feature Eclipse this Saturday night at  7 p.m. The movie is appropriate for ages 11 through 18. Come dressed as your favorite character for a chance to win a copy of the movie! There will be a $2 fee to cover the cost of showing the movie. Snacks will be served. 
  • Support the Brookfield Boys Swim Team on Sunday morning by joining them for a Pancake Breakfast at Appleby's. Tickets are $6.
