Ann’s Place and Regional Hospice & Home Care of Western CT will benefit from the Yankee Fair and Barn Sale

Your holiday shopping and bargain hunting is helping local charitable organizations!

When folks think of the Yankee Fair and Barn Sale at the Brookfield Congregational Church, they think about getting a bargain, eating tasty treats and finding Christmas presents. They may not realize that a majority of what they spend is donated to local charitable organizations.

This year’s recipients will be ”Ann’s Place, The Home of I Can”, the “Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut”, and the Congregational Church’s own “Refugee Resettlement” program.

We selected Ann’s Place and Regional Hospice because we wanted to honor the many members and friends of our church who have struggled with, or lost their battles to, cancer.  There isn’t one person we know that has not been affected by this disease, and for them we want to remember and aid these organizations.

Ann’s Place is located in Danbury and provides comfort and support to people living with cancer and to their loved ones.  They run programs for families, children, women and men.  Fair funds will help them continue to offer these necessary programs to those in need.

The Regional Hospice and Home Care is also a local entity. Fair funds will help them continue to provide care, comfort and compassion to families as their loved ones face advanced illness.  In the spring of 2013 they plan to break ground to build a hospice home in Danbury and our gifts will help achieve that goal.

The Congregational Church works in conjunction with IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Immigration Services) on our Refugee Resettlement Program. We provide housing and assistance to a refugee family to get their feet on the ground in the United States. Fair fund will continue to provide annual support to this important mission.

So, as you shop on Saturday, 10/13 remember that every purchase you make is helping the community you live in. We are happy you come to shop and enjoy the fun. Many others will be touched by your visit.

The church's annual Yankee Fair and Barn Sale is Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the barn opening at 8 a.m. for some great bargains.  Admission and parking for the Yankee Fair are free.

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.

So Mandarin Chinese won't be a requirement? Perhaps Manchurin Chinese? Cantonese Chinese? MongolianRead More Chinese? Which Chinese are the British speaking these days? Their empire stretched in the Hindu speaking parts of Asia but they aren't teaching Hindu. A quandry indeed.

The short answer is because they want to. If you spent twice at much they still would. EducationRead More personnel need to be monitored on social media like Patch.
