Are You Seeing Purple?

Have you been driving around Brookfield seeing purple ribbons or lawn signs and wondering what they are for? The purple ribbons are in preparation and awareness for the Relay For Life that is this Saturday, 6/1 at Brookfield High School beginning at 6pm.

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who battle cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. The Brookfield community comes together for 12 hours to fight against cancer. The event is held overnight as individuals and teams camp out at the Brookfield High School track with the goal of keeping at least one team member on the track at all times throughout the evening. Teams do most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams also hold creative fundraisers at their camp sites during Relay.

People from all walks of life come together with a common goal of furthering the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives by helping people stay well, by helping them get well, by finding cures and by fighting back. So far, this year, Brookfield has 40 teams, 400 participants and has raised over $26,000 with our sights set on raising over $60,000. Please join the community this Saturday, 6/1 at 6pm as we get our purple on!!
