An open letter and apology to the Brookfield community
On Tuesday my competitive nature, combined with a moment of stupidity, resulted in my taking an action that was wrong. While leaving my neighborhood, I saw that political signs had been stolen again. This repetitive stealing of signs supporting Democrats had been going on all week. I was really upset. In a fit of anger, I removed one political sign from the front lawn of a residence. I regret this and apologize to Bill Tinsley (it was his sign).
I have been an elected official in Brookfield for twenty-one years, either on the Board of Finance or Board of Selectmen. Both boards are high-profile positions with lots of public exposure. During those twenty-one years, I have strived to do my best for Brookfield. I am comfortable that many Brookfield residents support my contributions to the community. There have been a few occasions when I said the wrong thing or did the wrong thing. I’m not perfect. Clearly Tuesday morning’s incident was a case of poor judgment. I regret it.
