Lake Lillinonah Boat Launch Closed Until April

The launch was planned to reopen by the end of the year, however particularly cold weather has delayed construction.

The reopening of the state boat launch at Lake Lillinonah on Route 133 — across the bridge, just over the Bridgewater line — planned for Dec. 31 has been pushed back to April 19, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).

Extensive renovation work has been ongoing at the site since Labor Day, however persistent cold weather has brought paving work to a halt and delayed the reopening until the spring.

The rescheduled opening coincides with the first day of fishing season.

In a release issued Tuesday, the DEEP listed the following improvements:

The completed launch will be a state-of-the-art, handicapped accessible design and will include a two lane, grooved, concrete slab ramp with concrete pavers to prevent erosion; a paved and line striped parking lot, travel way, and turning area to provide improved traffic flow and safe pedestrian access to the ramp.

The launch will be ADA accessible, with a floating dock system to facilitate the safe and efficient launching and retrieval of boats; a solar powered street light to assist boaters at night; a trench drain to catch and filter runoff into the lake; and a portable toilet platform and screen.
