15 CT Towns Generating the Most Garbage Per Person

Counting down which towns make the most trash and which have a smaller footprint.

With Earth Day only a few weeks away, Patch is looking at Connecticut’s environmental footprint, including how much trash we’re generating and how much of that is getting recycled.

Looking at figures kept by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Connecticut residents and businesses threw away 2.28 million tons of solid waste in 2011, working out to over 175,615 pounds per person.

Flip through the slideshow above to see which towns had the most garbage per person and read below for the 15 towns with the lowest trash per person.

Also, check out this interactive map based on which towns recycled the highest percentage of waste, including detailed information for each town in the state.
