Deadlines to Register for August's Republican Primary

Registration deadlines and special sessions ahead of the Aug. 12 gubernatorial primary.

The state Republican Party is holding a primary on Aug. 12 to choose the party’s nominees for governor and lieutenant governor.

Only registered Republicans can vote in the primary, however Unaffiliated and unregistered voters still have time to register with the party. (The deadline for Democrats to switch affiliation was May 12.)

Brookfield’s Republican Registrar of Voters, Tom Dunkerton, will be holding a special registration session on Tuesday, July 29, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Registrars’ Office in Town Hall.

Other residents can also register at that time (just not in time for the August GOP primary) and requests will be heard for adding removed names back to the official list.

Mail-in registration for new voters must be postmarked by Aug. 7. Mail-in forms for Unaffiliated voters looking to switch to Republican must be received by the Registrars by Aug. 7.

The final deadline for in-person registration is noon on Aug. 11, the day before the primary.
