Rob, I agree that headquarters does not have complete control over where the signs are placed. However, each political headquarters does (or at least should) have control over the instructions that are given to people. Along the chain, the message can get lost. However, it appears to me that the message was never given if you look at the large number of O'Reilly/Walker signs that are on public property. By the way, I am not happy with the Democrats on the lower positions since they seemed to follow the O'Reilly/Walker lead. Maybe what is need is a rule book for all candidates in the future so they understand that it is there responsibility. Isn't that what we want in all of our candidates? Responsibility?

Rob, be careful with this quote. I quick Google search has people claiming that there is no direct citation of this quote to Jefferson. If can make reference to Jefferson's letter, book, or speech that uses this phrase, I would be very interested. It has been widely used. I have run a search on "The Jeffersonian Cyclopedia" (run by the Univ of Virgina) and came up with nothing.

I am sending this message via the back channels rather than start a dialog on the communal chat pages. This is not a challenge on position but rather a request for a direct citation since I have heard this phrase used often and no see that its authenticity is questionable.
