Obituary: Dorothy C. Fowler

Dorothy C. Fowler dies at the age of 85.

Dorothy C. Fowler, of Danbury, died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. She was born in Danbury, the daughter of the late Oscar and Gertrude (Davis) Capaldi. She graduated from Danbury High School, was a Red Cross volunteer and had been a member of the Crosby Manor ladies crafts group. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward S. Fowler, Sr. She is survived by two sons, Edward S. Fowler Jr. and wife Carol of New Milford and Kevin R. Fowler and wife Patricia of Brookfield, along with her sister Kathryn Smolcnop and husband John of Englewood, FL, granddaughter Amy Marek and husband Joseph and great grandchildren Madison and Kyle Marek of Brookfield. Barbara Ann (Stone) DiGrazia dies at the age of 73.

Barbara Ann (Stone) DiGrazia, of Brookfield, and loving wife to Dr. Paul V. DiGrazia, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Danbury Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Hartford, daughter of the late Charles and Anastasia (Morris) Stone. Along with her family, she was the co-owner, operator and Quality Control of DiGrazia Vineyards of Brookfield. She also worked at Danbury Hospital in Special Chemistries. She had a Masters Degree in Psychology, practiced Psychotherapy and was a member of The Masters and Johnsons Reproductive Institute along with her husband. She was an avid cook and contributed to regional cookbooks. She enjoyed gardening, travel, raising dogs and enjoying the local wildlife. Barbara will be remembered…

Daniel Paul Castagna, of Brookfield, devoted and loving husband to Michele (LaPorte) Castagna, died Monday, January 30, 2012, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 19, 1942 in Hartford and lived most of his life in Eastchester, NY. He was the son to the late Armand Castagna. Castagna was a member of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church and also a member of the Newtown Ski Club. He was the proprietor of Crestwood R.V. and Marine, Inc. in Tuckahoe, NY for 38 years. John E. Dalton, 88, of Brookfield and husband of 60 years to the late Callie (Wheeler) Dalton, died Sunday, January 22. John was born December 13, 1924 in Georgetown, MA. He was the son of the late Raymond and Lillian (King) Dalton. John served in the Navy during World War II. He attended the New York Art League. John was an amateur astronomer and built his own observatory, complete with his telescope. He also was an organic gardener for over 30 years. His hobbies included painting, building model ships and he enjoyed playing the Lowry Organ. Loretta Martha (Lewis) Wachter, 74, of Brookfield passed away on Wednesday, January 18 at Danbury Hospital with her family at her side. She was the loving wife of 51 years to John B. Wachter. Loretta was born on September 6, 1937 in Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Annas and Ethel (Buell) Lewis. Loretta graduated from Hereford High School in Maryland in 1955. She made her home in Brookfield in 1969, where she and her husband raised their family. Through the years she was involved in a number of community services including the Planning Commission and serving as a Justice of the Peace. Ruth attended Bethel schools and graduated from Bethel High School in 1938. Upon her marriage to Daniel S. Hatch in 1941 the couple moved to Brookfield. Her loves included family, friends and music. She was born the daughter to the late Felix and Margarita (Espinosa) Soto on December 21, 1937 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Louis N. Iasiello, 95, of Brookfield, died Tuesday, December 27 at Pope John Paul Center for Healthcare. Louis was the husband to the late Joyce (Truell) Iasiello. He was born on March 9, 1916 in Danbury, the son to the late Peter and Carmella (Galicio) Iasiello. Louis was a longtime hatter in Danbury and retired from Castro Convertible. He was an active member of Newtown Country Club. He was an avid golfer and scratch golfer who won many trophies. He was born in Massachusetts, son of the late William and Virginia Clarke, Clarke graduated from Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, VA, and then joined the US Coast Guard. During his service in the Coast Guard, he was on an Ice Breaker ship in Antarctica.
