(continued from above comment) A black man being President is "unlikely"--a man with all…Read More the education and opportunity that he had--why is that "unlikely"? More importantly--how is it "heroic"? I do not even think that Barack Obama thinks he is a "hero"--that is LAME. Sad that we have come to this were we enshrine race as a "feel good" issue when it should and is a "dead issue"--once Barack Obama was elected, the entire attitude of that "issue" should have disappeared in a puff of smoke. All we really want is superficiality and "ornaments" in this country--we have become that shallow? Harry Truman and past Presidents were true heroes--maybe read up on them. That is PATHETIC to try to enshrine Barack Obama--a President that has done NOTHING of consequence and met no challenge of the times--as a hero. But back to the point--what does it have to do with the article??? Specific connection anyone? Just a sad tactic at propaganda.... And athletes who "talk" about an abhorrent practice like homosexuality are "heroes"--how is that??? Like athletes who wear green and white laces or give grieving families memorabilia are "heroes"--HUH?? Are you kidding me? Specific responses to the points please--connect the paragraphs to the article DIRECTLY please, first. Then explain what a "hero" is specifically, with examples. My Lord!

AMAZING! Political correctness never ceases to amaze me. Above we see a decently written OpEd on…Read More drugs/lying/money in sports. For anyone following sports(Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Manny Ramirez & many other sports players)this OpEd above is "old news"--rehashing problems that consumed sports decades ago--literally, (And our society has a drug problem too!) The article's a smoothly written "re-hash" of old issues--WAY too long to make a point. Which I wondered as i read it. Until, EUREKA! We get to the odd/misplaced "political message" planted as a weird punchline at the end, buried--a TOTAL non-sequitur on this topic! I quote:"I write this column on Martin Luther King Jr. day, on a day when an unlikely man stands at the U.S. Capital & takes his second oath of office for a second, history-making term as President of the United States. On a day of heroes like today, I wonder whether our children can once again be encouraged to search for their heroes in places other than a gym, a ballpark, a stadium. Yes, it's still possible to find true heroes in those places, to celebrate & admire. Take...Brendan Ayanbadejo, who has set an example supporting same-sex marriage equality. He’s in good company with [other] players...& the outspoken Viking Chris Kluwe...all stepped up to proclaim their support of marriage equality." HUH?? What does Obama have to do with lying, drugs, & money ruining sports? How is Obama a "hero"? Be specific please? (to be continued)
