The Brookfield Museum, kept and curated by members of the Brookfield Historical Society, is located at the intersection of Routes 133 and 25 in Brookfield Center, across from the Congregational Church.

The building is the original town house and library and acted as the center of village social and political life outside the Congregational Church. The Brookfield Library was built in 1975 on the site of the old Curtis School for Boys and in 1976 it was agreed upon at a town meeting to lease the building to the Historical Society.

Today, the Museum holds a trove of over 13,000 souvenirs from Brookfield's past, including a preserved Copperhead Flag, once flown in protest of the Civil War outside of a Brookfield homestead. In addition to museum hours, the Historical Society hosts several events throughout the year, from slideshows of Brookfield's historical farms to Civil War reenactments.
