Scout Troop 8 Helps 'Save the Lake'

Brookfield Boy Scouts lend a hand at the annual Lake Lillinonah clean up.

Brookfield’s Boy Scout Troop 8 participated in Friends of the Lake’s annual Save the Lake Day on June 18 on Lake Lillinonah. Six boy scouts and three troop leaders, along with dozens of other local volunteers, spent four hours removing garbage and other pollutants from Lake Lillinonah on Saturday.

“If everyone who used this lake spent just one hour a year cleaning it up, we would never see the build up of garbage in one of our most beautiful natural resources,” said Jonathan Gibney Scoutmaster of Troop 8, which is sponsored by , where the troop meets Monday nights at 7 p.m.

“I was delighted by the enthusiasm of the boys and all the volunteers,” Gibney added.
