Saturday Morning Farm Stand Supports Brookfield Social Services

Fresh, donated produce sells fast at Town Hall on Saturdays.

Drive into on Saturday’s this summer and you’ll find a small vegetable stand offering an eclectic mix of fresh produce grown locally and sold in support of local causes.

The stand is a joint venture between the and , with all . The types of produce offered from week to week varies based on what has been cultivated from at the and donated from local residents.

“They bring them, we’ll sell them,” Garden Club member Irene Berger said while manning the table on a recent Saturday, “Whatever’s there.”

Produce donated from the gardens has gone to help Brookfielders in need before, but this is the first year that the abundance of donations has allowed volunteers to open the stand and raise some extra cash.

The stand also offers corn donated from Larson’s farm, picked fresh minutes before delivery.

The stand is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays or until stock runs out for the day. According to Lions Club members Bill and Susan Gabriele, the table will be there every Saturday through the growing season, “As long as we have produce.”
