Library Names First Board Member Emeritus

Found of the Friends of the Brookfield Library and the annual book sale, Margaret Drapeau, honored at annual dinner.

Margaret Drapeau, longtime resident of Brookfield, was recently elected the first Board Member Emeritus of the Brookfield Library Board for her dedicated service to the Library.

Her election was celebrated at the annual dinner of the Friends of the Brookfield Library on November 9.

Betsy McIlvaine, president of Brookfield Library Board, read a proclamation honoring Drapeau for her service to the Library Board and the Friends from Kendall Wiggin, State Librarian for Connecticut.

First Selectman Bill Davidson presented a proclamation on behalf of the town, citing Drapeau’s many services to the Library.  She created the first library book sale and the Friends of the Brookfield Library. She was a member of the Library Board of Trustees from 1994 until her recent retirement from the Board.

And the Friends of the Brookfield Library presented Drapeau with a gift basket keyed to an original poem with book themes.

Both the Library Board and the Friends look forward to Drapeau’s continued participation and support of library causes.
