HELP NEEDED: Lost Cat 'Elway' Missing in Candlewood Road Area

Yes.. We posted on facebook and also posted signs from Candlewood Lake to Main Drive. Our friends at Petco and Shop Rite also allowed us to post signs in their stores as well. Hoping for the best!!! Any other suggestions, please do not hesitate to respond. Thanks...

Do you have a trail camera? You can leave out some food to try to lure him back. Set up the camera on a tree to see if it's your cat coming to eat the food. Cats usually don't wander too far.

To all who have given me great suggestion so far, I can't thank you enough!!! I am still hoping for the best.
Elway is a friendly cat just very scared. As I mentioned, he is a 1000% indoor cat !!! I just want to get him back safely.

This might sound simplistic, but have you tried shaking his dry food in a bowl outside as you call his name??

Yes, I have even put his liter and his toys outside. I have been told to place an article of my clothing outside so he may get a sense of my presence around the house.
I am thinking he is still around the Main Drive area. I received a call late yesterday afternoon from someone saying they saw a cat that fit Elway's desciption, by the lower address numbers on Main Drive but by the time we got to the location, they was no luck in locating him. If anyone has seen him, please call me on the cell number listed above. Thanks to all who have given me some positive advice. It is deeply appreciated!!

You can leave information on two Facebook sites, one is "Find Tabitha" and the other is Brookfield Dog Park, which post information on missing pets. I hope he returns soon.

Lucia and to everyone else who has responded.. Thank you so very much. I have taken all your valuable suggestions and have used them. I have stayed out as late as possible this week without much sleep and now with the colder weather and the rain coming, I am getting disheartened about us finding Elway. I will keep the faith as much as I can and hope that someone will give me good news that he has been located and will return our buddy to us. Please still be on the lookout from Main Drive to Candlewood Road to Mist Hill!!!!

Try to have faith as the 'Lost Dog-Tabitha' was found after 17 days. She managed to weather several thunderstorms and unusually hot temperatures. Elway is an animal whose species once was feral. Perhaps instinct will kick in and provide for him until he is safely home again.

Hi guys!!!! Elway has been seen and located but now I am in need of help and ideas as how to get him. He was last seen on the back side of Mist Hill Drive!!! Does Brookfield have an Animal Control Division that can possibly help me??? ANY THOUGHTS??? I have his food tray/trap(courtesy of the animal control agency in the town where I work), at the location along with a shirt of mine with my scent and his favorite scratch pad and his toys. What else am I not thinking of doing??

I would think that the more 'Humane Traps.' the batter...perhaps Animal Control a/o a local shelter can lend you some. Personally, I would spend as much time as possible in the area calling him,,,it is difficult with cats...could you use cat nip in some way? Hmm?

I have used the cat nip to try and lure him into the "Humane Trap" and also with his food. The good news is that he is still around but now its the challenge of trying to "catch" him.

I'm pretty sure Brookfield outsourced it's Animal Control Division - I thought to New Milford because they had facilities Brookfield didn't want to deal with. Check New Milford's.

To everyone who has blogged comments and suggestions about rescuing Elway, I want to take this time to thank each and everyone of you for your help. You have all been so very helpful.. I also want to share in the GREAT news that we found Elway in our neighbor's yard late Sunday night right before the storm.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had been told he was lodging under our neighbor's porch and so we set up the Humane Trap right by it. My wife had also spotted him but by the time she went to try and rescue him, she lost his location. We went out Sunday night to hopefully find a miracle and there Elway was!!! Unharmed... We had to take him to the Vet's to take out a tick, but outside of that he looks healthy. My only questions to all my friends here is this: With him being gone for close to 18 days, can that have a change in his attiude/personality?? All he is doing now is resting and sleeping. He is definitely eating and drinking water but he's not his energetic self yet. I realize that it has only been two days but hes not himself... yet,
Any thoughts before i take another trip to the vet's for a full exam?? Again, My sincere thanks go out to all of you for helping me through a very stressful and difficult experience. Thank goodness for a happy outcome with Elway!!!

HOORAY!!!!! I'm SOOOO excited (and relieved!!) that Mr. E is HOME!!
I'm certainly not an expert, but I think Elway will resume his 'domestic' behaviors after acclimating. I had a very ill cat that was at the vet's for weeks. Once home, her behavior was markedly different for a few days, At the moment, she is playing with a toy and swatting her 'sister.' (Some things are just meant to be .) Again, WONDERFUL NEWS!!!

He is most likely dehydrated and I would suggest getting him to the vet for some sub Q fluids.

Oh, thank goodness he's safe. Thank goodness Elway didn't have to go through Sandy.
