If you've only seen them on TV and never attended one, you may be missing some inexpensive entertainment. Antique and estate auctions are happening several times a month and, as long as you don't get too involved, you won't have to worry about overspending.
For example, there was an auction conducted by Applebrook Auctions at the Southbury Firehouse on Main St. South in, you guessed it, Southbury. The week before, I got a chance to see and record a short preview of some showpieces. Watch the video here.
*UPDATE - The auction was a hoot, and there were hundreds of items offered. It is an informal affair, so no need to dress up or fear arriving late and leaving early, except that you may miss something you can't do with out. There is another auction coming up next month, so stay Tubed.
