The Garden Club of Brookfield cares for nine gardens around town as part of its Civic program. A favorite is the gardens at Brooks Quarry. The Quarry is a housing complex for senior and disabled residents in Brookfield. It was built in 1982 on land donated to the town.
Over the years the club has helped cultivate the planting beds at the Quarry. Each fall the club meets to clean up the beds and plant bulbs for a beautiful spring display. In the spring they are busy adding plants and mulching. This year they were joined by members of the Junior Gardeners Club from Huckleberry Hill Elementary School.
