Weekly BHS Sports Recap

Week Three BHS Sports Results

Baseball (3-4, 0-4): Bobcats baseball had a tough week, losing three straight, but finishing on a positive note with a crushing win over Abbott Tech (4-6) 14-1.  They began the week getting shutdown by Bunnell (2-5, 1-1) at home in a disappointing 2-1 loss Monday. Ryan Berry pitched a complete game in the loss.  They let a close game slip away late at New Milford (3-5, 2-2),  losing 11-6, and then lost a tough 5-2 game at home to Newtown (6-2, 3-1), committing three errors.  Berry was back on the mound Saturday morning at Brookfield High School and the bats came alive with 25 hits in the win over Tech.

Softball (7-1, 3-1):  The Lady Bobcats' perfect start came to end Friday when they lost at home to rival Newtown (7-0, 4-0) 5-0.  The loss was the first for the team and for previously untouchable pitcher Kayla Bernardi. Bernardi pitched her first no-hitter of the season on Monday in a 1-0 win over Bunnell.  Danielle Demarco drove in the games only run.  Brookfield dominated a game played at New Milford on Wednesday, winning 8-1.

Girls Lacrosse (5-1, 4-1):  The Lady Bobcats finished a perfect week with a wild 13-12 win at Bethel (3-3, 2-3) on Friday.  Kathryn Marron scored five goals and Jackie Brown had six in a game that was played without senior captain Alexa Foldy, who was out with an ankle injury.  The girls easily defeated Joel Barlow (2-4, 2-3) at home on Wednesday 19-7.  Brown was the leading goal-scorer with six in the lopsided affair.
