Two Take 1st in SWC Championship Meet

Bobcat wrestlers have good start to post-season.

The Brookfield Bobcats wresting team took fifth place in the SWC Championships last weekend, with two first-place and two second-place finishes from the team’s top wrestlers. Brookfield will move on to the Class M State Tournament this coming weekend, with the top six athletes in each weight class moving on to the State Open the weekend after.

In the SWC Championship, senior captain Jack McKeever continued to wrestle undefeated on the season, taking first place in the 152-pound weight class and improving to 36-0 going into the state tournaments.

Fellow senior captain Joel Wamser improved to 31-5 on the season, taking first in the 182-pound weight class with a 3-0 record in the championship meet.

Senior Ryan McManus (160-pound) and junior Blaise Boullianne (132-pound) both took second in their respective classes, each winning two of their three matches.

Despite outstanding showings from the team’s top wrestlers, the Bobcats took fifth place overall in the championship, as they were only able to field wrestlers in eight of the 15 weight classes.

“One of our goals from pre-season on was to be in the top five in the conference,” new head coach Mario Bonito said of his team, which beat out top-ranked Oxford and six other schools in the meet. “They did an outstanding job."

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.
