Softball, Girls LAX, Girls Tennis Get Big Wins; Boys LAX Loses in Overtime

Boys Tennis and Girls Golf come up short.

Softball (5-3, 3-2):

The Lady Bobcats won their second straight in blowout fashion on Monday as they defeated Notre Dame-Fairfield 13-1.  It was the second straight game the offense exploded for 13 runs as they were coming off last Thursday's 13-0 shutout of Stratford.  Both wins came on the road and the victories moved their SWC and overall records to above .500.

Starting pitcher Brittany Fusek got back to her winning ways after taking her first loss of the season last week to Lauralton Hall.  Fusek pitched a complete game, surrendering only one-hit while striking out two and walking none.

The Brookfield offense collected 12 hits in the game.  They were paced by Melissa Pierce who went three-for-five on the day.  Pierce also drove in two runs in the game.  Danielle DeMarco led the team with three RBI's and Katie Layman added two.

Lacrosse:

The boys team suffered another gut-wrenching one-goal loss, their second straight defeat on the road by the narrow margin while the girls bounced back from their one-goal loss with a blowout win at home against Masuk.

The Bobcats (3-4, 3-3) fell in overtime 12-11 to Masuk (4-3) in Monroe when they were unable to hold a 1-7 lead after three quarters.  The Panthers rallied by scoring four goals in the final quarter to force the extra session before getting the game-winner.

Shane Madden led Brookfield with three goals and two assists while Sam Grainger, Brad Westmark and Brian Kelly had two goals apiece.  Tim Tremiglio and Gus Warner each had a goal as the Bobcats outshot the Panthers 47-21 in the loss.

The Lady Bobcats (3-3, 3-3) shook off their tough loss at home against New Milford last week by routing Masuk 22-8.  The win moved Brookfield's overall and SWC records back to .500 in this early stage of the season.

Tennis:

The boys and girls teams had been of since last Monday but both were back in action yesterday.  The Lady Bobcats (4-3, 3-2) got back to their winning ways while the Bobcats (1-6, 1-5) suffered another loss.

The girls were at home and they came up with their second win over Masuk on the season, defeating the Lady Panthers 5-2.

The boys team was in Monroe where they were blanked 7-0 by Masuk.

Girls Golf (0-3):

The Lady Bobcats played their second match of the season yesterday and saw their scores dramatically improve.  They were unable to come away with a win as the fell to Weston 226-280.  The team is in its first season and will continue to try and lower their scores while it searches for its first ever victory.
