Large, Smallmouth Bass Biting in Candlewood, Lillinonah Lakes
Local anglers can head to one of Brookfield's lakes to catch some good fishing before summer's end.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's (DEEP) August fishing report is out [see attached], with tournament updates and catch reports that include Candlewood Lake and Lake Lillinonah.
The report says largemouth bass are "a little tough" to find in Lillinonah but "some fair bags have been reported." It also suggests trying night fishing on Candlewood and gives tips for bagging your own catch.
Smallmouth bass are biting well in Lillinonah and Candlewood is rated "very good" but they are becoming harder to find.
