Girls LAX, Softball, Boys Golf Continue Winning Ways

Boys LAX win two of three, Baseball drops game at home, Girls Golf still looking for first win.

Girls Lacrosse (10-4, 9-3):

The Lady Bobcats ran their conference winning streak to eight games by winning back-to-back games.

In what can only be described as an epic shootout, Brookfield came away with a 23-20 win at New Fairfield on Tuesday.  The offense continued to click on Thursday as they took care of Notre Dame-Fairfield 14-3 at home.

It was the senior scoring combination of Kathryn Marron and Emily Leonard who led the way in the impressive win over the Lady Rebels.  The two combined for 18 goals with both scoring nine goals apiece.  Marron added nine assists while Leonard totaled six.

Sophomore goaltender Kelly Grady, under a relentless attack, made 17 saves to help preserve the win.

Softball (12-4, 10-3):

Equally impressive and equally impressive streak, the Lady Bobcats won their seventh straight game on Friday, defeating Pomperaug 6-3 at home.

"It's a good winning streak," Brookfield head coach Frank Bonacci said.  "We're just taking them one day at a time.  All the games are important.  We're a cohesive unit right now, we're 100 percent behind each other, we're playing good ball right now and we're peaking at the right time." 

A big three-run third inning propelled the team to victory while starting pitcher Brittany Fusek limited the Lady Panthers attack for her 11th win of the season.

"She's been solid," Bonacci said of Fusek.  "I'm very happy with the way she's producing right now."

Ashley Lamperelli had a big run producing triple in the second inning rally. Felicia Lennon had three hits, two RBIs and scored a run. Danielle DeMarco scored two runs while collecting two hits, one a triple. Melissa Pierce had two hits and two RBI.  Giuliana D'Arcangelo also belted a triple that produced a run in the first inning.

Boys Golf (7-3, 5-3):

The Bobcats picked up another win as their strong season continued on Thursday. Playing at home they outshot Bethel (4-6, 3-6) by 24 strokes.  All four of Brookfield's players were within two strokes of each other with Sean Llewellyn leading the team with a round of 41.

Girls Golf (0-6):

The Lady Bobcats continue to search for the programs inaugural win.  They fell to Weston in their most recent match held at home on Thursday.

Baseball (11-6, 7-4):

The Bobcats dropped their second game of the season to Pomperaug on Friday, losing 11-4 at home. Austin Yusko took the mound for Brookfield and was undone by seven errors committed by the team behind him.

The win secured the number one seed for Pomperaug in the SWC playoffs. Brookfield has two conference games remaining and are considered to be in the post-season even with the loss.

Boys Lacrosse (7-6, 5-4):

The Bobcats continued to keep their record above .500 with two wins in three games at home this week. They defeated non-conference foe Old Lyme 10-6 on Saturday before losing to New Fairfield 14-3 on Tuesday. They bounced back with a solid 9-2 win over Notre Dame-Fairfield on Thursday.
