Brown Earns Top Honor in High School Football

Boeing Brown receives preseason All-American status.

Boeing Brown’s breakout sophomore season as quarterback of the Brookfield Bobcats has led to him being named an Offense-Defense Preseason All-American.

The contingent of College and NFL Scouts that make up the Offense-Defense program, which is the oldest, largest and most trusted source in football, unanimously selected Brown based on his strong ability on the football field. The selection is the highest honor awarded to a high school football player.

The announcement made by Matt Whittier, the Director/Owner of Offense-Defense was the second such great honor for Brown in what has turned into a busy off-season for the hard-working quarterback.

In the spring, Brown made the cut of 300 quarterbacks in the country who were invited to the U-19 Team USA football tryouts. Of the 300, Brown was only one of three who were sophomores. He also became the first ever Brookfield player to be selected for Team USA tryouts.

Now, heading into his junior season, Brown becomes a rare junior All-American.

The O-D selection committee awarded Brown the All-American honor after viewing highlights of his sophomore season that saw him throw for 1,511 yards and 18 touchdowns while leading the Bobcats to the game and a 9-3 record. One scout attended a Brookfield game this past season and made his recommendation based on seeing Brown perform in person. Other scouts saw Brown’s ability up close and personal at the Team USA tryouts and at a football camp held by UConn that Brown attended.

In the eyes of the O-D scouts, Brown displayed the pure quarterbacking ability of what they feel it takes to be an All-American. Being awarded the honor means Brown is now eligible to play in the O-D All-American/All-Star game to be held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for his junior and senior seasons, giving him a chance to play in back-to-back football showcases.

According to Whittier, Brown’s selection as a junior puts him in the ranks of previous honoree’s Colt McCoy and Cam Newton.

The prestigious recognition brings with it extensive exposure for Brown. Media outlets such as Sports Illustrated, Athlon, Rivals, Scout and Takkle, among others, regularly cover the O-D All-American Bowl game. That recognition has led to there being over 380 O-D alumni currently in the NFL.

While being overjoyed at hearing the announcement of the tremendous honor this week, the Brown’s thoughts were first and foremost centered on . Like many Brookfield residents, the Brown’s were devastated to hear of the news of that took the life of eight-year old Maggie O’Conner.  They expressed their sincere heartfelt prayers to her family and friends.
