The Brookfield boys basketball team has gotten off to a fast start this season, posting a 6-1 record through the first seven games. The Bobcats have beaten the likes of Oxford, Joel Barlow (twice), East Longmeadow, MA, New Fairfield and Classical Magnet, with the one loss coming against a strong Immaculate team in the opening round of the Candlewood Classic tourney.
Brookfield has been led in scoring by Danny Burkhart, a senior captain averaging 20.4 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game and 2 steals per game. Ralph Schatz, a senior captain, has been solid on both ends of the floor, averaging 10.1 ppg, 8.4 rpg and 2.4 bpg. Junior Ryan Korb leads the team in steals (3.3 spg) and assists (2 apg).

Also contributing to the team’s success has been the senior leadership of captains Joe Acquanita and David Depoi. Sophomore Mustafa Sahki and junior transfer Darric Myers have stepped into varsity roles and flourished of late, helping Brookfield in some crucial situations over the first seven games.
The Bobcats play Friday at home vs. New Milford and next Tuesday at vs. Pomperaug.
