Box Scores: Soccer Teams Enjoy Blowouts, Boys Cross Country Runs Well

Girls Cross Country and Volleyball suffer setbacks.

The Bobcats ran their win streak to four with another dominant performance. In rainy conditions at Brookfield Stadium they waisted no time jumping on winless Notre Dame-Fairfield (0-5), scoring 30 seconds into the match en route to a 6-1 victory.

The held a 5-0 lead at the half before pulling off the attack in the second half. The team was led by junior Rocco D'Arcangelo, who had two goals. Senior Nick Demo had one goal and two assists while senior Tom D'Ostilio added one gaol and one assist.

Girls Soccer (4-1-3, 4-1-3):

The Lady Bobcats broke out of their scoring slump in a big way in their game played at Notre Dame-Fairfield (1-6).  They exploded for six first half goals and cruised to a 7-1 win.  The team was led by a trio of players who had two goals apiece.  Senior Alex Green, sophomore Julie Depoi and freshman Jen Millar helped the team end their two-game scorless streak and remain undefeated in their past four.

Boys Cross Country (8-3):

The Bobcats dominated the meet held at Bethel on Tuesday, taking the top five times and eight of the top 10.  Senior captain Spencer Mannion led the way for the team finishing first; he was followed by fellow senior captain Dan McArdle, senior Ben Lofink, junior Adam Fox and senior captain Colin Lennon. They defeated Bethel and Oxford with Lauralton Hall not bringing enough runners to compete.

Girls Cross Country (3-8):

The Lady Bobcats endured their second straight disapointing team finish, being swept by Bethel, Oxford and Lauralton Hall at Bethel on Tuesday. Oxford enjoyed a banner day having a runner, Marcea Stilson, take first place and the team sweeping the quad meet for the first time in team history. Brookfield was led by senior captain's Sam Carlucci who placed seventh and Aileen Tobin who placed eighth.

Girls Volleyball (3-5, 2-4):

The Lady Bobcats had the table turned on them in their visit to Housatonic (2-4) on Monday. In Brookfield's season opener they rallied from being down 2-0 to defeat the Lady Mountaineers at home. This time they went up 2-0 only to see Housatonic storm back for the 3-2 victory. Brookfield was led by senior captain Kathryn Marron, who had 10 aces, 4 kills and 1 block; junior Wendi Westmark had 6 kills and 4 aces.  Brookfield played without senior captain Jamie Bickelhaupt who remains out with an ankle injury.
