Bobcats' Coach Angarano Named NY Giants Coach of the Week

Brookfield High football coach credited the award to the entire coaching staff.

Brookfield High School (BHS) head football coach Rich Angarano was named the “Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week” by the New York Giants.

Angarano will receive a certificate of recognition from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Giants head coach Tom Coughlin and will be acknowledged at the Nov. 24 game at Giants Stadium.

"I accept this award on behalf of my entire coaching staff who have been outstanding all season long,” Angarano said Wednesday.

The Bobcats will also be getting $1,000 for the BHS football program.

In a post on Giants.com, the organization notes that Angarano has a record of 103-60-2 as the Bobcats’ head coach, including six state playoffs and three conference championships.

With Brookfield’s victory over Joel Barlow last week, the Bobcats are heading for the states again this year.

Angarano also holds mandatory study halls after school for his players, 60 percent of whom have made the Honor Roll over the years.

With the Coach of the Week award, Angarano is now eligible to win the Giants' Coach of the Year award, which includes $2,000 toward the football program and a special dinner hosted by the team.
