Baseball Wins Second in a Row, Boys Lacrosse Bounces Back and Golf Opens with Win

Boys and Girls Tennis, Girls Lacrosse suffer losses; Softball rained out.

Baseball (2-0, 1-0):

Bobcats starting pitcher Harlan Zeerip was back on the hill for Brookfield on Monday and he led the team to its second straight win to start the year. Zeerip pitched six scoreless innings, enjoying solid run support in the 6-3 win at New Fairfield. He struck out six while walking only two.

The Bobcats scored two runs in the second inning and one in the fourth before opening things up with a three-run fifth inning. The Rebels rallied for three runs in their last at-bat but it was too little too late as Brookfield held on for the win.

Boys Lacrosse (1-1, 1-1):

After suffering an ugly opening season loss at Newtown, Brookfield bounced back for it's first win of the season, defeating the Wildcats at Bethel on Monday.

To earn the victory, Brookfield had to hold on for dear life. The Bobcats held an 8-3 lead at halftime but would be unable to score in the second half while Bethel mounted a comeback. The Wildcats cut the lead to 8-6 with three goals in the third quarter but a stingy Bobcat defense would allow Bethel to score only once more, securing the win.
