Whisconier Red Ribbon Essay Winners

Middle school students celebrate Red Ribbon Week.

Students, teachers and staff at Whisconier Middle School (WMS) in Brookfield celebrated "National Red Ribbon Week" with tremendous spirit and enthusiasm.

Pictured above are the winners of the 2011 “Healthy Choices” essay contest, which focused on why it is important to be healthy and “cool to be drug-free,” along with WMS principal Dean Renda, police Chief Robin Montgomery and Substance Abuse Coalition coordinator Heather Sadler.

Chief Montgomery is also the Chair of BSAC which is a community-based "Local Prevention Council" made up of many volunteer members like myself. The National Red Ribbon Week prevention campaign is celebrated town-wide each year 10/23-10/31 and provides opportunities in line with BSAC’s desire to promote positive youth development and increase the protective factors known to reduce a multitude of high risk behaviors….to learn more & see how you can get involved visit: www.brookfieldsubstanceabusecoalition.org
