Photo Album: BHS Class of 2010 Graduation
Brookfield High Graduates told to "Light the Spark" as they start their journey.
As they filed into the O'Neil Center at Western Connecticut State University's west side campus, Brookfield High School's graduating class of 2010 seemed a close knit, cohesive group.
Student Council President Brendan Allen welcomed the students, staff and parents to the 2010 graduation ceremonies with a quick greeting expressing how close this graduating class has been in their BHS years, which was followed with "Under the sea," played by the BHS band.
From the start of the ceremony, it was apparent that this group was a tight bunch of friends. This was only reiterated by the class president, Jacqueline Mino, as she described their school journey together. She talked about 8th grade hijinks and starting at Brookfield High and what was "cool," or thought to be cool, each year that they were at BHS and finally developing into who they are now. Mino seemed to get the students excited for the challenges ahead of them.

Chosen speakers Patrick DiPaola, Salutatorian Michael DiScala and Valedictorian Richard Diesso, all had memories of their school years and the future's endeavors to share with the class. "Choose your craft, hone it and go forth and learn what you can," Diesso said as he ended with a "light the spark" comment to carry them on their way as adults into the life they choose after high school. He mentioned that each classmember has something special, whether it was sports, arts, drama or academic studies . He quoted Robert Frost when he said, "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."
Special song selections were sung and among them was the rousing "If You Want to Sing Out," by Cat Stevens, which had the audience clapping along and a guitar solo by Claudia Bartoli. The song was sung by Senior members of the special chorus.

Once the tassles were turned by Jacqueline Mino and the class was recognized as graduates, senior Patrick Colavito jumped up clapping and engaged the class in a celebration of moving on from BHS and into their "new" life as alumni.
