Letter: Brookfield Uncorked 2012 Thank You

Brookfield Education Foundation President Colette Sturm thanks organizers and attendees for a successful gala.

The Brookfield Education Foundation extends its gratitude to all those who made its 2012 “Brookfield Uncorked!” event a success.

Chaired by Terri Kavanagh, the gala committee of Anat Schneider, Maryann Quarto, Jodi Luizzi, Debra DeMelo, Patty McManus, Tracy Zumbahlen, and Jessica Stuart worked tirelessly for countless hours to ensure that a good time was had by all.  Special thanks are additionally extended to our emcee/auctioneer of the evening Brian Reiff and our Premium and Reserve Level Sponsors: Jodi Luizzi of Atmosphere Home, Brookfield Animal Hospital, and Patty McManus, Realtor, of William Pitt Sotheby International.

The BEF is indebted to several other individuals for their efforts towards the evening’s festivities: Doug Polistena and the Amber Room Colonnade, Peter Parray at Brookfield Discount Liquors for arranging the evening’s winetasting, Joe Carter and Sambeleza for the evening’s great music,  Tom Joseph and Jim Tomaselli from Integrity Graphics, and graphic designer Mark Eckstein.  We additionally thank all the individuals and businesses who generously donated items for our silent and live auctions.

Above all, we are most grateful to all who attended the event and all who generously contribute to the foundation, helping to ensure its mission to marshal and provide resources for lifelong learning by Brookfield residents of all ages.

Best Regards,
Colette Sturm

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.
