Facebook Page Supports Armed Officers at Brookfield Schools

Facebook users are gathering on a new page to lobby for School Resource Officers at each school.

The day before the Board of Education (BOE) recommended that the town hire four police officers to be stationed at Brookfield schools, a Facebook page was created by Board of Finance (BOF) member Robin Appleby urging the town to give the idea serious consideration.

As of Wednesday afternoon, 90 residents have “liked” the page in support.

Appleby describes the purpose of his group:

I think the time has come to consider having an armed, uniformed police officer at the entrance to our schools, with a marked police car by the entrance.

Abbott Tech has a uniformed, armed State Trooper with the police car at the entrance.

I would like to have well trained, young officers who are empathetic and can bond with the kids. In Danbury, I hear good stories from the kids about the support they got from the officers during hard family times, abuse, even rape. I think that if done correctly, it might have a very positive effect on the drug and alcohol scene.

The most important job of government is protecting the citizens, esp. the young ones. It is unfortunate that our society has so many very disturbed psychopaths (we can discuss the reasons later).

For those who don’t know me well, I delivered precious little babies for 26 years (days and mostly nights). I raised 6 children and have sweet 4- and 6-year-old grandchildren living with me now. My church lost 4 little children.

I have talked to several dozen people and they were all favorable to this idea. These killers are cowards and would most likely seek a "softer" target.

I would like your opinions on this.

Thank you and God Bless you all Dr. Robin Appleby.
